How to Create a Website for $10 and Sell It for $399+

I am currently engaged in a side venture where I construct websites with the intention of selling them for a few hundred dollars apiece.

Recently, I managed to successfully sell one for $395 and another for $450. My objective is to create and sell one site approximately every month or two. The process becomes straightforward once you've established all the necessary components. Following the established procedure is crucial.

Several individuals have inquired about how I am able to keep the costs of building these websites so low. Indeed, there are expenses associated with hosting, domain acquisition, design, content creation, and more. However, these expenses can accumulate if resources are squandered on non-essential elements.

To start, let's delve into the essentials and associated costs.

Domain Names: The first necessity is acquiring a domain name, which is a relatively minor investment, usually around $10. I typically purchase mine from Namecheap due to their reasonable prices and solid customer support. Although the choice of domain registrar isn't drastically impactful, having dependable support for potential issues is important.

Hosting Expenses: After experimenting with various hosting providers, I've settled on Siteground as my preferred option. Their user interface is user-friendly, even for beginners, and their customer support is exceptional. Whenever I've required assistance, they've been responsive within minutes.

They offer several hosting packages, with the least expensive starting at approximately $2.99 per month. This package covers one website and up to 10,000 monthly visits.

Since I manage multiple sites, I've opted for the GrowBig package at $4.99 per month.

It's important to note that these prices are introductory rates for the first year. Ideally, my earnings will be sufficient to cover the full price afterward. If not, I can always switch to another host and take advantage of their introductory offer.

The advantage of an unlimited websites package is that the hosting expense doesn't increase with each additional site I build. Consequently, each new site essentially incurs no extra hosting fees.

The Website: Paying for a custom-built website could cost anywhere from hundreds to thousands of dollars. However, this expense isn't necessary when you're just starting out.

Nowadays, numerous individuals use WordPress to construct their sites. Once your hosting is set up, it takes just a few clicks to establish a WordPress site.

If you're using Siteground, the process is exceptionally simple. Just follow the prompts.

After this setup, you'll need to link the domain name to the site. This is also a straightforward task, requiring just a few clicks.

WordPress provides a basic theme, which can be easily changed. I personally begin with a free theme; investing in a premium theme isn't essential initially and can be considered later.

Creating Content: Once your site is set up, the next step is to add content. If you're familiar with writing, particularly if you contribute to platforms like Medium, generating content should be relatively straightforward. Writing one post daily results in 30 posts per month and 365 in a year.

You can also repurpose your existing Medium articles if you wish. That's what I've done, utilizing over 500 Medium stories to populate multiple sites.

Additionally, you might possess unpublished articles that can be repurposed.

It's advisable to focus each website on a specific niche. This has been my general approach, although some of my sites encompass a mix of niches and still perform adequately.

Promoting the Site: Driving traffic to your site is a prudent strategy. I achieve this through social media platforms such as Facebook groups, Twitter, and Reddit.

Over time, your posts should start ranking on Google Search, bringing in additional organic traffic.

In Conclusion: These are the fundamental steps for setting up a website. You have the option to either keep the site and monetize it or sell it, a path I choose for both.

Should there be sufficient interest, I could delve deeper into each of the aforementioned steps.
